Billing Structure

There are several billing mechanisms utilized by the Firm. The most common structure is the hourly billing based on the Standard Billing Rates.

A variant of the standard hourly billing is the modified billing which results in a lower hourly rate for certain nonprofit and long term clients who pay annual retainer fees. Modified rates are also available for clients providing replenishing retainers that assure the Firm payment within 10 days or less.

The real estate, corporate and business matters are generally billed based on a fixed or hybrid fee developed for the matter by the client and the Firm. Hybrid fees are mechanisms that provide for a fixed fee plus an hourly fee for time expended in excess of the fixed fee.

Probate matters, generally referred to as "statutory" or extraordinary fees, are billed based on schedule of fees in the Probate Code but subject to negotiation between the client and the Firm. Extraordinary fees are billed on our standard hourly billing rates subject to review and approval by the court.
